husqvarna 345 saw Upper East Side.My wife got me this saw a few years ago as a christmas present.
I had used husqvarna saws before and they really felt good.
Low vibration and powerful for their weight.
The first year i used a few times trimming limbs and such but never for long periods of time.
The saw is not equipped with a manual oilier for the chain.
That means you are solely relying on the automatic oilier to keep the bar and chain cool and lubed.
I ended up using an old paint brush and a bucket of oil stopping ever so often to oil the bar, eventually i got my tree cut.
After that i removed the side panel and cleaned the saw thinking it might just be clogged up.
Numerous uses of the saw have proved the same result, poor chain oiling.
The saw performs a little better on live trees, you can forget dead wood.
As the cup passes the oil reservoir it scoops up oil and slings it toward the chain and bar.
I have spoken with several people in my rural area and every one of them reports the same problem!
Once the bar and chain overheat the saw just wont cut and quickly dulls.
Frustration reached the point of calling husqvarna.
What crappy service they provided.
All they can tell you is to take it to a dealer and let them look it over.
When asked if their was a recall or a service kit the rep would not answer.
I also asked her about others reporting the same problems and she refused to answer.
I think i could actually hear her flipping through a response booklet.
This is the first review i have written and i am not much of a complainer but i hope that this prevents some people from buying this piece of junk.
I wish i could only give them a lower rating than one star.
Obviously, there has to be some reason they design the saw to oil so lightly, probably some kind of environmental stupidity.
